Do you write poetry?
Chapterseventynine.com is looking for poets to help keep its poets company. Take a look.
Lost Property
by Sorrento

borne on spindrift
gull’s feather takes flight

This wonderful Haiga was written by one of our members. Sorrento taught me the difference between a Haiga, and Haiku, but she has also inspired me by her stunning works.
I find after reading her, I drift into the world of imagination, and find myself motivated to write a story. That’s the wonderful thing about chapterseventynine, we seem to inspire each other.
Poets are welcome to join us, and if you don’t know a shadorma from your senryu, your Haiga from Haiku, or you simply want to post some poetry, pop into our poetry forum and meet our member poets.
Chapterseventynine is One Month Old
Hello Hannah here.
Chapterseventynine.com is now one month old and has 41 members. Amazing what can happen in a few weeks. Kate and Just Me are busy with Nano Write and I don’t envy them one bit, but they are both doing so well. Keep going ladies.
We introduced a genealogy forum for anyone who wants to write their family history. A little bit of writer’s licence and a sprinkle of fiction can bring our ancestors to life. So even if you are not a writer why not come along and learn how structure a story, or perhaps help members with researching the past.
On Facebook we now have 122 members from all over the work so why not visit us there and say hello.

Are you a writer ?
Nikki here
A friend of one of my daughters asked me what I was doing on the net. I lie, she didnt actually say ‘What are you doing?’ She messaged me ‘Wuut’ which I took to mean What you up to. Amazing how quickly you end up understanding the text talk of the younger generation.
‘I’m writing a story, ‘ I replied. ‘Oh’, she said, suprised, ’are you a writer?’
I paused, then said yes, immediately feeling guilty. After all, Am I a writer? What qualifies me to tell people that I’m a writer. Is it if I’ve been published? (ok, I have) Or is it the amount of time I spend at the keyboard. If it’s the latter then I can confidently confirm, I am most definately one.
I shall keep thinking on this one.
When I started writing back in 1996, I never envisaged that my life ten years later would revolve around story- lines, plots, and characters. That whilst ironing, I would be planning my mc’s next move. As I dusted throughout the living room, I’d create a new character. Even mowing the lawn, and ‘ping’ an idea would be created. While reading to my children, I would constantly look out for bad Spag, and reading best sellers, would wonder at how changes in POV can really work so well.
I think I’ve probably answered my own question.
Why Everyone Should Write
You know there is one thing as a writer that gets me so mad, and that’s people who go out of their way to discourage people from writing.
Everyone has a story to tell, and the great thing about writing is the creativity. Not everyone can be sp&g perfect, but that should never deter anyone from writing a story and sharing it with the world. Sp&g can be learned, but stories are a treasure of our imaginations.
On the internet people can be heard. My grandfather died before I was born, and I knew nothing about his life. Can you imagine if the internet was around when he was a young man, and I could read his feelings on life now?
Old, young, the kid who’s English teacher laughed at him. It doesn’t matter. Give writing a try, and share your imagination and your memories with us at www.chapterseventynine.com. I love to read about the old days before I was born, so if you want to tell me about the time you met your husband, or how your mother made jam – write it down and let us read it.
Share your imagination with us; we can’t wait to read it.
What a Day!
Hannah here.
Our new site is two days old, and shaping up well. I can’t wait to start writing to the prompts. This past month I’ve been pushed to put pen to paper. (Okay, keyboard to screen.) But, Nikki and Kate are so full of positive energy I can’t help but be inspired by them.
If you’re a writer like me who enjoys the company and friendship of fellow writers why not join us on our quest.
